The best foldable phone just got better! Honor Magic V6 arrives just in time to push the limits of the foldables with a tougher build, a stronger hinge, cutting-edge screens, top-notch performance, and the largest battery inside a foldable yet. And we get to enjoy all these novelties within the thinnest body to date. Color us intrigued!
The Magic V6 looks a lot like the Magic V5, but Honor has made sure to improve it just enough to make your money worthwhile. The Magic V6 is now IP68 and IP69 rated for complete dust and water resistance. It has an incredibly strong hinge and better drop resistance, a thinner profile, an even less visible crease, and it comes in four different colors with different finishes on the back.
The Magic V6 centerpiece is still a 7.95-inch foldable display, now featuring an LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel with an anti-reflective coating. The cover screen is larger this year - a 6.52-inch LTPO 2.0 AMOLED panel, also enhanced with an anti-reflective coating too.
At the heart of the Magic V6 is the Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 5 chip with the complete 8-core processor, unlike Oppo's Find N6's stripped-down 7-core one. It is coupled with either 12GB or 16GB of LPDDR5X RAM and UFS 4.1 storage. It's worth noting that the chip features a vapor chamber cooling solution, though that's par for the course for top-shelf chipsets.
The camera department hasn't changed much since the Magic V5. There are three high-res cameras on the back - a 50MP primary, a 64MP 3x telephoto and a 50MP imager for ultrawide-angle and macro shots. There is a duo of 20MP cameras inside each screen.
One of the most impressive aspects of the Magic V6 is the 6,600mAh battery capable of 80W wired and 66W wireless charging. The battery capacity has seen a solid increase from the Magic V5's 5820mAh battery, and Honor promises up to 24h battery life on the large display. There is support for reverse wired and wireless charging, too.
By the way, the Chinese versions of the V6 feature 6,850mAh and 7,150mAh cells depending on the storage capacity.
Finally, the Honor Magic V6 boots Android 16 with MagicOS 10. The latter comes with an updated iOS-like translucent UI and improved cross-platform communication (mostly with iOS and macOS). Let's not forget the plenty of AI functions available right out of the box.
It appears that Honor Magic V6 ticks all the right boxes, which makes it exciting to check out if it really delivers on its promises. But first, an unboxing.
The Honor Magic V6 ships inside a large black box that contains the phone and a USB-C cable.
Also part of the retail bundle is a color-matching case (with a kickstand), a red and gold one for our red unit.
There is no charger inside the EU version of the package. If you are after the fastest possible charging speed, your best bet is to get one of Honor's own chargers (rated at 66W or higher), but if you are buying the charger separately, make sure it's the new version with a USB-C port, as their older chargers used to only come with USB-A ports, and the cable provided in the box is USB-C on both ends.
In what mode (balanced, performance) were the battery tests done? I wonder if the device is just poorly optimized since it has such huge benchmark score drops in the default balanced mode.
It's an amazing phone, even though it came 1st, before the Oppo N6 and Vivo Fold6, I like them all, but I have experience with Honor and their flagship mobile device products are truly flagship, specs, feel, temperature, battery, everything. Th...
