Infinix Note 70 Pro visits Geekbench with a mysterious Snapdragon chipset

Infinix Android

Earlier this month, the Infinix Note 70 Pro showed up in a certification database, and a previous DevCheck entry for its X6766 model number pointed to it using the Snapdragon 7s Gen 4 chipset. Today, the same model number has appeared on Geekbench, and things aren't quite that simple anymore.

The benchmark listing reveals a Qualcomm SM7635 chipset with one CPU core clocked at 2.96GHz, three at 2.71GHz, and four at 2.02GHz, paired with an Adreno 810 GPU. The phone had 8GB of RAM and ran Android 17, managing 1,145 points in the single-core test and 3,523 in the multi-core one.

SM7635 is the part number used by both the Snapdragon 7s Gen 3 and the 7s Gen 4, but neither of them has a CPU with these clock speeds. The 7s Gen 4 tops out at 2.7GHz, 2.4GHz, and 1.8GHz for its three clusters, while the 7s Gen 3 doesn't have the Adreno 810 GPU either.

So this could be a new chip, possibly the Snapdragon 7s Gen 5, or an overclocked version of the 7s Gen 4. Either way, it would be a step up from the Infinix Note 60 Pro, which uses the regular 7s Gen 4, so the battery may not be the only major upgrade after all. Thankfully, the Note 70 Pro should also come with Android 17 out of the box, unlike some other phones launching these days.

Finally, a new Infinix phone; they haven't released much lately. Also a nice new Snapdragon SoC, teach Redmi to use more powerful SoCs.
