Oura sues Ultrahuman in the US once again, threatening the new Ring Pro

Oura Ultrahuman Smart wearables

Last year, the Finnish company Oura sued the India-based Ultrahuman in the US over patent infringement. Oura argued that Ultrahuman violated a patent, and the court found the latter guilty. Subsequently, the Ultrahuman Ring Air was pulled out of the market.

Oura sues Ultrahuman in the US once again, threating the new Ring Pro

Ultrahuman then reworked and launched the Ring Pro in the US, but Oura hit the smart ring manufacturer with another lawsuit, now citing two patents related to the design and internal components. Oura is seeking monetary damages and is once again asking the court to block all Ring Pro sales in the US.

The case is being carried out in the federal Texas court since Ultrahuman is manufacturing its Ring Pro in Plano, Texas, for the US market. The contractor is called SVTronics and is also named by Oura as a defendant in the case.

Interestingly, Ultrahuman claims that the redesign specifically addressed all the issues Oura had with the Ring Air and has already received approval from the US Customs and Border Protection and has stated that the new Ring Pro doesn't violate Oura's patents.

However, one of the patents Oura cites in the case was issued just two days before the lawsuit was filed.

Ultrahuman's products remain on shelves in other markets, for the time being, and so will the Ring Pro in the US until a court ruling orders otherwise.
