The Samsung Galaxy Z TriFold gets a 71% battery boost with Honor's Si/C battery mod

Samsung Honor Android

Samsung unveiled the Galaxy Z TriFold last December with a 5,600 mAh battery, which is not only lower than that of non-folding smartphones but also lower than that of foldables, as we have seen folding smartphones with battery capacities in the 6,000 mAh range. How's that possible? The answer is Si/C batteries, which Samsung continues to avoid even in 2026.

Honor's recently unveiled Magic V6 foldable comes with a 6,600 mAh Si/C battery, and the folks at YouTube channel Strange Parts used Honor's Si/C batteries to increase the Galaxy Z TriFold's battery capacity by about 71%, meaning the trifold's total battery capacity went from 5,600 mAh to 9,600 mAh when the original batteries were swapped with Honor's Si/C batteries.

I agree about the Phantom's optimization. It also had a 2 y.o. cpu. When Honor debuted the si/c battery on a phone, Group14's SCC55 material was commercial for close to 2 years. Samsung announced their SCN technology in 2020, but the...

That's their fault. Shouldn't be used as an excuse to stick to ancient battery tech.
