WhatsApp announces new features, including Group Status

WhatsApp has announced new features. First is Group Status, which, as the name suggests, lets you share Status updates visible only to group members, who can view, react to, and like the statuses, and add their own. Group Statuses, like regular statuses, disappear after 24 hours.

WhatsApp already lets group admins share a group's message history with new members when they are being added to the group. Now, you can also share old messages with new members after they join the group. Just tap their name in the group chat.

Speaking of messages, WhatsApp now lets you pin messages in a group chat permanently, with no time limit.

WhatsApp has also introduced a new chat filter that shows you every unread group chat where you were either mentioned or received a direct reply, including @all messages.
