Last year, WhatsApp introduced a media hub on Mac and the web, which displays photos, videos, links, and documents from all of your conversations in one place. Now, the feature is on its way to iOS too, as spotted by digging into the latest WhatsApp beta (version 26.42.10.74).
The media hub will live in the app's settings, and it will only show media you've received - so anything you've sent won't be there, and neither will disappearing media. It will have two tabs, New for recently received items and All media for everything. You'll be able to filter by photos, videos, or links, switch between a list view and a grid view, and tap a heart icon to see only the items you've reacted to.
For every item in the hub, you'll be able to forward it to another conversation, add a reaction, star it, or jump to the chat where you received it. There's also a search function that works with photo and video captions as well as links, so you can find something even if you don't remember when it was sent to you.
Unfortunately, the media hub is still under development, and it's not even available to beta testers yet. WhatsApp should start rolling it out to some of them in a future update, though it's unclear when the feature will be ready for everyone.
